I have been told that ducks with angel wing cannot fly but I just saw my duck, with angel wing, fly. It was first flight and she didn't get very far and she landed face first but all my ducks are still working out the landing and land face first and my big girl (twice the size of the smallest) flew for the first time today and she didn't get very far either. I guess my question is, Huh? I'll be really happy if she can fly.

Yah, I've seen that. I guess my bird is special. It's on her right wing and she's female

, but why the flight? Is it possible she doesn't really have angel wing and it's some other wing deformity? I don't know what I'm talking about, do I? :)

maybe she's flying all she will, a wild bird needs to able to fly in all directions, I'd imagine angle wing, like clipping the feathers would make steering very hard and require twice as much work to achieve lift.

(I had a clipped and unclipped cockatiel, the clipped cockatiel even missing all of her primaries at the level of the secondaries could still fly, but only straight and she used twice as many wing beats in flight making her tired much more quickly. She could not maneuver up or down once in flight.)

So if it's the same with your duck she will spend more energy flying then normal ducks and she will not be as manurvarble, fine for a captive duck, death for a wild duck.
