Angel wing taping - did I botch it?

I did my first angel wing treatment today. I caught two nine-week-old muscovy ducks with the condition and taped them - however, afterwards it looked weird; the wings were held in awkward angles, in a sort of semi-shrugged position. Also, the loss of their wings made them falling over, having a really hard time getting back up, and they kept picking at the tape. My mom (the ducks' owner) told me to remove the tape, which I did after a few minutes.

Here are some photos of the two patients. What do you think, did I do it wrong? If so, how to do it right?

Are you certain it is even angel wing and not the flight feathers growing in?.....

Perhaps you should go to you tube and watch a video on the subject.

When the flight feathers grow out they can appear pretty wonky and the Ducks will hold the wings away from their body....I would wait a couple of weeks....

Looking up videos right now, mostly finding them for geese though...

Okay! How long can you wait before it's too late?

Give the wings time to grow out....If they still tip outwards then try wrapping...A friend of mine that I sold some Call Ducklings was positive her Ducklings had angel wing...Nope, as I said it was the flight feathers growing out...Ducks are great....
