Anger, sadness, dissapointment..UPDATE! live chick!

Thank you all for your kind words. BYC is the one place that I can turn to in times of chicken need.
I'm going to give the little eggies another chance, and leave them for a few more days in the 'bator.
I think it is time for an upgrade from my Little Giant. Now I just have to time the tears and sobbing for right when my hubby gets home.
"Honey whats wrong? Don't be sad,we will get you another incubator-a better one- no matter what the cost!"

I had a major temperature spike on day 20 and, buy some miracle, some of my eggs still hatched--I also have several more with pips. Don't give up entirely yet. I know that I wanted to give up, but I left some eggs in the incubator against my better judgment and I'm glad that I did!

Maybe if you played it right you actually could get a sportsmen out of the deal? Nah just go for the 1588.

I agree about the 1588. You might also be able to find a used 1590 which is just as good. I have both. You will never get me to use another finicky wafer thermastate machine. EVER!!
I am sorry about your eggs and I do truely hope that some made it.

I candeled some eggs, and I think I lost all but a few. Yesterday when I candeled them, all the eggs had lots of veins, and some had movement. Today, I have a few left with veins, none are moving. They look ... blurry inside.

Can anyone post a few links to sites that sell hovabators or brinsea 'bators?

Hang in there! It took me years before I finally got the art of hatching down. I still don't think I'm any good at it! Hovabators are very good and fairly inexpensive. Roll-X cost and arm and a leg, and maybe a kidney too, but I've heard only good come from them. Sportsman are great too, but BIG and worth their cost. Good luck, keep trying! I know exactly how you feel! Every year I'd fill my incubator and every egg would die at the end, except for one or two that needed SERIOUS help (sticky and deformed usually). Invest in a good incubator, and a digital hygrometer/thermometer (GQF makes a good one that's fairly cheap).

Get a 1588.

Even though I only got 12 chicks out of 41 shipped eggs, I still felt successful.

At present on my second attempt, day 18, I have 25 chicken eggs still in and 6 duck eggs.

I hope that means that by next Tuesday I have at least 15 chicks and by the following week, at least 3 ducks.

Guess we'll wait and see.

OBTW... sorry for your loss.

I believe Cutler Supply sells them, you can also look at ebay. I got my last 1588 there and was very happy with the company I bought it from.

A MIRACLE!!! I had a chick hatch last night! I had actually unplugged the incubator yesterday for several hours until my guilt got the best of me and I decided to try for one - more - day, again. Then last night I went to check the temp and behold!!! One live black chick!! It hatched out of my only true Ameraucana's egg. My roo is also a brown red Amer. The rest of my birds are EE's.
I can't believe my luck!!
