Animal attack! Need help!

Extremely helpful and I went through some of the linked threads. As serious as I thought my hens injury was, seems there have been worse!

Looks like ours is basically doing as well as can be expected. I thought I was going to need to put her down when I first saw it.
Any injury can be worrisome, so don't dismiss the trauma that your hen has gone through.
I think her wound looks o.k., it's just going to take time.
Some wounds heal more quickly than others it seems, but just keep doing what you're doing.

Yes, there's SO many threads with injuries here on BYC. A lot of successes and sadly losses as well.

Many threads have stood out over the years, but 2 in particular I remember reading and/or participating in. Both threads are long but do have photos. These stories give us hope, they tell of a chicken's resiliency and of a Keeper's love and care. One lost her beak and received a more traditional Western type of care and medicine (from Canada), while the other was injured, ended up with maggots and received a holistic/natural care approach (South Africa). So many things to learn and so many wonderful people to meet all across the world. If you have time, you may want to browse these 2 as well.
At least for both threads, look at the first page of injuries, then towards the end for updated photos. Miss Fuzzy Bum and Frikkie's Miracle:)
