Okay so I am very new to chickens we "inherited"them about 2 months ago and 2 nights ago something got into the chicken pen and completely ate one chicken, one had its head bit off and another is wounded. My question would have to do with the wounded chicken....

She has a large area on her breast that is completely raw and a small wound by her leg, she is limping sometimes and others walking fine. She is eating and drinking well, I have read on here how to make a saline solution to clean and have put triple antibiotic on and some asprin in her water and she is seperated form the others in a new clean pen.

When i went to clean her off today i noticed that she had a smell like maybe an infection was setting in. I have read many different things about antibiotics on here but i dont know what the best would be to give her, ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

My rooster (who was a girl at the time) was attacked by a dog and he had a deep wound - two actually. I cleaned it with diluted - betadine twice a day and took him to the vet - he needed antibiotics - he also had started to smell, it happened so fast (the smell). The vet cleaned him better than I had and then I had him in a cat carrier for the week while he healed - it was surprising how fast he did heal and the speed the smell went away.
He came good, became a proper 'boy' and had no issues at all.
I am really sorry to hear your story, but would suggest a trip to the vet...i was also surprised at the cost of taking a chicken - much cheaper than the dogs!! lol
