Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

Oh gosh Patrick I had no idea a skunk would do that kind of damage didn't even think they would go after adult ducks just thought they were mainly egg eaters.

So thankful you have a friend who is specialist in wound care. She will def need antibiotics. I'm sure she is in shock keep her warm and quiet.
You've done great so far getting her cleaned up and the blood stopped.

Sorry, the smell of skunk in the air this morning confused me.

I'm not sure what it was, maybe raccoon, I have had to remove 2 raccoon s so far but I guess this one is smarter.

Thank you...I will do my best.

It may have been a skunk I bet if you had time to post on the predator and pest thread you'd know for sure. Let me know if you do I want to follow it and see what others think.

If a Raccoon She most likely would be dead I'd think. Unless something interfered with the attack.

Could have been here we have had possums come right into the fenced area and eat my birds feed and not been aggressive but I understand that isn't normal. Looking at the teeth they have I'd say they could do some serious damage.

Fox.

Got him on one of my other cameras. Small guy. Did not see attack but pretty sure now.

Vet will not give me antibiotics. Wants to see Duck and charge 168$ to treat. 20 mile trip, not good no to happen as the stress would probably kill her.

Going to see what fish antibiotics petco has...TSC has injectible penicillin...

Other than that, clean it, bacitracin, treat it as open wound due to puncture so no wrap just twice daily cleaning with hibeclens, and ointment is all I can do now.

Yes, we finished cleaning wound. He said since I don't have antibiotics to keep using the hibicleanse and watch her, but for now she is calm after the ordeal.

Funny, my friend only treated people in Iraq...but she nestled her head in his arm and looked at him calmly the whole time I debrided the wound.

He said that skin cleaner is what they use is burn units and open wound treatment because it dries as a protective antibacterial barrier.

All I can do now is let her rest.
