The skin cleaner you used is preferred by veterinarians and doctors.Yes, we finished cleaning wound. He said since I don't have antibiotics to keep using the hibicleanse and watch her, but for now she is calm after the ordeal.
Funny, my friend only treated people in Iraq...but she nestled her head in his arm and looked at him calmly the whole time I debrided the wound.
He said that skin cleaner is what they use is burn units and open wound treatment because it dries as a protective antibacterial barrier.
All I can do now is let her rest.
A pet store is unlikely to carry much, but an amoxicillin, Cephalexin, or maybe penicillin. @Patrick McKee , maybe ask your friend what antibiotics are given to people?What would be the best antibiotic to get at pet store?
@casportpony?
Broad spectrum would be best (gram positive and gram negative coverage), but I doubt a pet store will have them. Won't hurt to check though.I can get penicillin. He said check petsmart for a broad spectrum gram something or other fish antibiotics. They are otc and given orally.
I believe so...either way the pen is injectable so not happening. I have a number...she drank some vitamin water. But seems to be in quite a lot of pain...I might break down and take to vet.Isn't pen for blood born infections?
