Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

She seems ok. She has stopped all twitching and has preened herself almost normal. Hrumphing and chatting a little. When I fed her sibs and they raised a fuss as they always do (everyone knows when they are hungry), she started Quacking back although not as loud. She is agitated and does not try to eat, she will take a bit from my hand if I kind of force the issue, no worry about force feeding her yet as she is walking around and seems stable.

She wants out and acts like she is all tough and stuff, but no sleep and pain and when she tries to prove she is ok (wing flap, tail wiggles), she backs off after just a little effort and I can tell it is pain due to this new neck dip thing where while standing and preening she will suddenly dip her head down like she is getting water and hold it for a bit. I wince when she does it as I think when she moves a certain way...owwie!

But I don't get the antibiotics until tomorrow and my friend said at least one 24 course before back in wild. So Saturday if she cooperates, if not, well I might have to get creative as I know she is lonely and wants to run around with her guys and gals eating minnows and grubs.
:wee

She has kind of stopped improving...not eating at all. I can get her to drink a little but she stops after 5 or 6 sips...it is hot here in Texas.

She moves around fine. She does drink on her own as I see her every now and then.

She has trouble scratching her face. Can not do it. Then the head dip, most likely some muscle damage causing pain and weakness due to not eating.

All water has nutri drench in it, even her small bath pool.

Reading up on tube feeding now in case she gets lethargic.

Anything else I should do? Just checked her nose and feet, still cool. Antibiotics are on schedule for tomorrow.

Thanks.

My Pekin did the twitching thing in your video for hours when she was injured by my brothers dog. It was because she was very uncomfortable and hurting. I haven’t seen her do it since.

What about a friend. I have a Pekin cooped up right now and the only way she wasn’t fighting to get out and making her ankle worse is by letting a friend stay with her. I bet she will perk up if you let a friend in. Have you had to tube feed her? How’s she doing this evening?

She is the same, twitchy after moving or bath, or me checking her, so you are right about that, she twitches based on level of movement she does. Drinks little each time I offer and sometimes when I am not there. Seems alert and wide eyed, but tired and can doze standing up with micro naps (eyes closed for a few seconds, open, close few seconds, rinse repeat)

Tomorrow morning if it is as warm as it was this morning I am going to give her a room temp epsom salt bath, once done cleaning her and the wound, I'll add ointment and a little cleanse at the main site and on the abrasion areas of exposed skin and then let her twitch after i dry her as best as I can. She dries pretty quickly.

I like the idea of a friend. I can use tomatoes and get LG, she's easy and let's me pick her up sometimes. I brought the group up to the porch where the pen is, they couldn't see her, but she grunted, so you might be right a friend to cluck to might perk her up. Once i get her on antibiotics I'll it her in, the ab should be here tomorrow as sceduled so...I think she is ok. So far she is standing, drinking a little, pooping watery poops (of course), preening, micro-napping and always good for a sip of water if i offer.

Thank you
