I care very much about the cattle we raise. Doesn't mean I can keep them all for many years. We have a cow/calf herd. We make a large part of our income by selling the calves yearly when they reach about 9 months old. Does that make me a bad person or that I don't care about those calves...no it doesn't.
I would suggest until you've lived in my shoes and tromped thru the mud at all hours of the day and night checking on cows that are calving no matter what the temperatures are you are in no position to pass judgement on anyone who raises livestock for a living and doesn't keep them for years.
