Animal Hoarder Chicken Ep. 1-14-11

nothing wrong with that,in own view.
as long as someone always has the space for them, the food and care for them, and the money for vets fees when the need arrises then screw what anyone else thinks.
some things are seen as acceptable to hoard-and arent really seen as hoarding; those women who keep buying shoes and new clothes and never wear them, theyll have like wardrobes full of shoes but its seen as acceptable by society and not treated like an issue.
-someone who has a lot of pets with a lot of love and space for them is seen as someone with a syndrome/disordered-even if they are incontrol of it.
now that is whats disorded.

I used to have an uncle that trained greyhounds and we always had about 400 dogs on the farm, it was very hard, very time consuming , and very very expensive work. However he had 5 employees, and them dogs were in very good health, turned out 5 times daily, fed beef mixed with dry dog food and had fresh water twice daily. I can just imagine having that many dogs(anything) with one person. I t would be horrible. I believe most of these people need psychotherapy they usually seem pretty crazy when you watch the show.
I seen one where the couple had 0ver twenty rabbits in their rent house was the most disgusting I had ever saw. Their was feces and dust everywhere and the house was completely gutted from the rabbits chewing the walls.

big thing i see wrong with these shows about animal hoarders........when all this gets out ...more and more town and city pass laws on number of pets a person can have...some around here the limit is two per house.

I sure would go crazy ,if that all i could have.

The problem is that people who watch those shows get the idea that if you have a lot of animals you are a hoarder. There is a big difference between animal hoarding and animal husbandry. If you have the proper housing for your animals, feed and water them properly, practice prevenative medicine, and keep their quarters clean you are not an animal hoarder. Hoarders are people who aquire more animals than they can financially and physically care for-----and basically don't seem to attempt to.

Hoarders also can't seem to ever give up any of the animals. I do believe that hoarders are mentally ill. They are unable to see that there is a problem. Some people feel that they are caring for the animals, extremely well, but when other people stop and see how these people care for their animals they are horrified by the conditions. The hoarder just isn't able too see how bad things really are, or they have been taught that they are truly caring well for their pets.

I got an impression from the episode of the older lady that had chickens in awful conditions, it that she had been taught to care for animals in a way that most of us couldn't begin to consider. She also couldn't understand what was wrong about keeping chicks in extremely small tubs that were nearly full of dead chicks and poop. I think she probably was repeating how her parents care for their animals as she was a child.

This gal also had no clue that maybe you should hit your children all the time. She was still hitting them even as adults. She just didn't see what the problem was. Even after having the kids removed from her care by the State. So it seems that no matter how bad things are, the Hoarder just can't seem to understand what the problem is.

I do think that there a many people that have never been around animals, that watch the shows, and will believe that if you have more than one pet that you must be a hoard too. I have a lot of pets, but I do know my limits. I am also rather good at placing pets if I need to.
