A soaked mash is ok, but I would be careful about feeding what you call "fermented" food.

We used to have "pet mice " ...When they were small, Pinkies, we would toss them to the chickens. GONE. They really liked them...

A long long time ago I worked summers for a commercial poultry operation that raised birds in about 2 acre pens, feeder cattle style. After removing the birds my job was to plow the range in preparation for the next batch of friers. There were field mice galore and it always seemed like refugees from the packing house would swarm the plow's furor, looking for field mouse nests. I have also seen a young rooster turn a 15 inch garter snake into a "chicken" snake.... by eating him head first.
