If that is shredded paper I see in the "loft," I would urge you to reconsider using it. A neighbor tried using it and her chicks got HORRIBLE pasty bottom from the dust and eating it. As soon as she switched to other bedding the problems stopped.

Thanks for the info. They went through 2 weeks' worth of the paper with no ill effects, but I haven't been able to get it so am using the pine shavings now. They smell better too so I think I will stick with them. My EE had nasty pasty butt the first few days but with regular cleaning with a soft warm wet cloth, and time, it went away.
