It is very exciting! I have just come to realizethe feeling myself ! So I rejoice with you and your egg laying pullets! I hope all the others catch on as well! weeee
We got our second first egg this morning. I had opened the nesting box and found our RIR in there. "Oops, sorry!" I told her. Then every 10 mins I was at the back door, seeing if she was in the yard or still in the box. I think that she sat on that egg for a while, as it was quite cold by the time she left it there.
You would have thought our BR laid that darn egg, she talked it up so much. the RIR seemed nonplussed and unimpressed with herself.
Here is the "take" from week one. 9 eggs total. Notice the biggie in the middle this one arrived Sat morning
Please ignore the dirty dog pillow I used as a padded backdrop. Chocolate the 13 y.o. blue heeler/lab/????? mix had to be convinced to move after I nearly dropped one so thought a padded "something" would be better than risk losing one She was not happy about moving!!!
