Thanks for the replies and support everyone, that made me tear up reading all that
I wouldn't mind but it took us aaages to find this vet, who was supposedly experienced with chickens, as others looked at her and shrugged and admitted they knew nothing. The 'experienced' vet said himself that he usually discovered what was wrong with the chicken through a post-mortem and so wasn't sure how to treat her...hmmm.
We're looking for another vet now, but i'm not home for the weekend so am panicking about Milly. I can give her her meds on Friday and am back Sunday evening, but nobody is home on Saturday. Ohhh nightmare...and the people who normally feed and water the girls don't have enough experience to give her the meds
Today she was active and happy to run around the garden and then climb onto my knee for cuddles. I managed to get her to drink a little today, and she ate a few raisins, some custard and, when i mixed it in with her pellets, i caught her sneakily eating a few of those too, which i hope is a good sign!
3KillerBs, yes i totally understand what you are saying. It just upset me that he was so rough with her and that he was obviously distressing her.
Oh, thank you to whoever moved this here as well, sorry for posting it in the wrong place originally
