Weather forecasters are all a twitter with the BIG storm coming. Running back and forth across the map, this here, that there, coming together here, maybe. John Q Public in a panic, buying up salt, don't forget the snow shovel and add it to all the ones you picked up over the previous yrs. AHH! I forgot to get milk and bread! Lemmings to the sea. The only thing I have to get is Bird Seed.

After six weeks of polar vortex -20 to -35C we finally got a chinook (warm westerly winds ) for the last two weeks. This resulted in snow melting temperatures for several days, and minus single digits. Now we are going to have a bit more arctic air but nothing colder than -15 C for a few days and then we warm up again. However this is happening because the cold is moving east over the prairie provinces and is going to spill into Ontario et al and the Eastern US. Cue the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth!

So excited for Friday! It might actually feel like winter for once this year. It's been really warm the past couple months here in Oregon...Bad for us skiers. The mountain's snow is melting.

6C "feels like" -11 (43 / 12F). Wind 40mph with gusts up to high 50s - that's from the weather station down at the harbour, so probably a fair bit more on the chickens' exposed hillside. Still wet but not as much as it was.

Currently 26F, with s high of 28F....just the calm before the forecasted snow storm this weekend. Need to make sure the coops are buttoned down so the flocks will be comfortable.
