I have three younger siblings that use to annoy the bejeebers out of me. But then finally the things my Mom had been telling me started to sink in. "If you want things to change, it has to start with you. It won't be easy, but keep at it. Things will change."
So I started taking my little siblings out with me. They were still mean to me for a while (they didn't trust that the niceness wasn't a fluke, and we were stuck in a pattern of bickering I was determined to break) but eventually we started getting along better.
Not to be preachy, just letting you know it's almost like a magic trick. And now we get along great!
And you get so much relief when they want to be nice to you. Like taming an animal. It takes a long time, but the rewards are worth it.
