My Sagitta has a red, bare butt that starts from where her tail feathers should be and goes all the way down to the bottom of her rear. Basically, where the fluffy down should be. We have checked for mites/lice and found nothing. The rest of her feathers are shiny and beautiful and all of our other hens have beautiful shiny feathers, as well. We use food grade DE in the coop and they have access to a wood ash/sand pit in their run... so highly unlikely that we have an infestation. They are fed Ranchway pellets which are super high in protein and also black oil sunflower seeds and dried meal worms on a daily basis. She appears to have feather shafts coming in in some places. I put bag balm on her butt last night and today, the whole area is bright red. We do have bullies and put pinless peepers on all of the culprits about a month ago. That made no difference in my poor Sagitta's butt. Advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to add a photo later today.
