Another Chick Sexing Post - Need Help!

Katy said "hatchery" SLW. So he doesn't look like the standard for his age? Or was that not meant in that way?

Hmm - I hadn't realized that hatchery birds are so different from standard. I was planning on ordering some chicks from Murray McMurray but if they aren't standard......I may have to re-think that.
Why are they different?

That is the standard to a 'T' ! I was looking at some hatcheries that do them and they SHOW standard looking birds in the photos....!!!!

Most all of the pictures that the hatcheries use on their websites or in their catalogs aren't even their birds. Most of them will even tell you they aren't theirs if you ask (which I have), or say the pictures are only representative of the breed.

They are different because hatcheries hatch for quantity, not quality as a good breeder will.
