So I bought some random quail eggs for my broody bantam to set on. Well surprisingly she managed to hatch one. Then because I didn't want to the poor babe to be lonely I bought 2 birds...who turned out to be bigger and older.

I'm guessing they are too young to determine the sex but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what color they are?

The darkest one is Mumble. The one with the symmetrical wing patter is Peachy and the smallest one is Mean Bean, or just Bean. Bean makes that "PEW PEW PEW" noise so I'm guessing a male? Bean also has to boss everyone around and try fighting the hen that hatched it. 🙄

The dark one is Rosetta or Tibetan. Grau Fee or Charcoal if it’s gray instead of brown. The light one is Italian.
The small one looks like a button quail to me. That would account for the different beak shape, feather growth, and voice. You may want to consider separating the button and getting a mate for it once it’s grown as Coturnix get to five times the weight of a button and can easily kill one, even accidentally. Keeping the two species together is not recommended.

Wait what. The person who sold me the two larger ones said they were the same breed. Aw no I wouldn't have done this if I knew they weren't the same.

It just seems to me that the smaller one is unusually small, but is at the same growth stage as the two big ones, and the beak looks a little short and dark... @Nabiki what do you think?
If they’re getting along now, they might be fine, but very soon the Coturnix are going to be noticably bigger than the little guy if he is a button, and the Cots actually grow faster I think.
