I need some reassurance on what I'm doing. My pullet is 10 weeks old and for about a week I've notice her crop not going down. in the mornings its still up that same size. I've read extensively about sour crops, impacted crops, and pendulum crops and still had some questions. It feels squishy and she's passing her poo. I can't remember what it looks like though so I need to observe that . She's her normal chatty self and hops in your lap to hang out. My plan is to separate her from the other 7 and do olive oil and crop massages. Now, i do this a couple of times a day, correct? Should I not feed her the first day (water only) and day 2 start plain yogurt? Thank you.

Hi,
She recovered from it. It was pretty large! I isolated her for 3 days so I could supervise what she ate. First day, I just had water with electrolytes ( bought from tractor supply- not too much) for her. I also used a syringe w olive oil (maybe 1/2 tsp- I can't remember) and gave her that and massaged her crop. I just let her drink it. I was afraid it would get down her airway if I squirted it in her mouth. I did that twice. Day 2 & 3 I still have her electrolyted water, olive oil, crop massages but added plain yogurt to her diet. Good luck w it!

This is exactly what we are doing with our chicken. We are on day 3 and it is still not down. How long did it take for yours to recover?
