If you come in and relax, he would be on a leash for the first few minutes. Then if the person was relaxed enough I would let him off his leash. dont stare him in the eyes he is a very alfa dog and dont pet him and things will be ok, he is very aloof yet alert. He will tolerate you, just dont pet him until you've been around for many visits. He gets his high suspicion from his DDR lines. Its common for the DDR lines to be very standoffish/untrusting/protective with anyone they dont know. But if you're around enough he will happily accept you as long as you dont ever put your hands on one of us.

I've said it many times, we sleep very soundly at night with him. He will literally sleep in our room then our daughters then back to us. He basically checks on all of us. He is trained in German and takes his protection work very seriously. Not sure if you've heard the term "a civil dog" but he definitely is a very civil dog. I also know with his training and temperament he would be an extreme liability in the wrong hands. So we are very responsible with him.

And as for the wyandotte and egg.. i can see it being one of them. Their combs and waddles are bright red!!!

He sounds very intimidating! Hahah be he sounds like a great dog.

And he definitely sounds like he takes his job seriously!

I think I have heard of it, I used to follow these people with two GSDs and one of them was very civil and actually could be pretty aggressive at first with strangers and stuff and alpha type too so they had to get help from the breeder and work with him and did manage to get him under control with a lot of training. I think they weren’t expecting him to be quite so civil or had never had such a civil dog before or something like that. The other dog was fine.

They seem like they’re great dogs but like you said, definitely a liability in the wrong hands.

Fortunately, these people were devoted to working with him and I think also lived out in the country so he wasn’t too bad a risk. But they went to the breeders place for individual training sessions and I think she came to them some too and it was just a lot of work they put in

Anyway, he is a very handsome boy. Is he a pet or do you plan on breeding him?
