Another egg question

I have a quad of sweet grass turkeys in with my chickens and would like to get the turkeys to lay their eggs and go broody. I am curious how should I go about this? Can i put nesting platforms high up in the coop, or what can I do so that they lay them in a spot where they can sit on them and not just on the floor? Thanks if advance.

The hen will pick there own stop to lay eggs. If Chickens are with them and the chickens are laying they will lay near where the chickens are laying. Generally they will pick a place near a wall or covered area if possible.

Generally several Hens will contribute to the clutch of eggs, so which ever starts to lay first will choose the spot. They may also set up several clutches of eggs, so they may lay in more then one spot. Once the clutch of eggs gets to 6 to 9 or more eggs one or more of the hens will go broody and sit on them. If there is more then one hen they might fight over who is going to sit on the eggs so some might get broken under those circumstances.

I put a large crate or other"box" in the corners of the coop. I make sure I always pick up any eggs laid elsewhere and put them in the box. They will usually start using the box.

first turkey hens will hide eggs, if they are out running around they will lay where they want! the answer is to lay where you want!!! nice dry clean soil (no large rocks) on ground nest dark area, plywood leaning in conner works , hens like to lay where others lay! you will need to mark eggs to keep track! get 6/8 plastic eggs or wood or golf balls! see which hens wants to set on eggs! also removing all real eggs and saving them so when hen goes broody slip the eggs under at night and remove fake eggs! now mark the real eggs ,she sits ,other birds will still lay in her nest !remove all unmarked eggs every day hope this helps tom!!!! she will cover only 12/14 eggs!!
