i always turn if off when I am going in the run. I just made it today before it started pouring. When I turned the on switch on, the light that usually comes on(fence ok light) was very weak.the charger is covered and no rain can get to it. I turned it off, went back out after the downpour and the light isn't even on at all, but I tested every area of wire and all tested working and hot. I gave a very basic tester right now--the light comes on if it's hot.

Why is the light on the charger not working? The rain? Do I have to worry about this over night? I checked all the sites snd everything is in place. There are two fuses, could that be it? I was trying to research it with no luck, but I ran across one blog and it referenced that these things make a ticking noise? I have never heard any ticking noises. Is that normal?

Thank you for your patience as I learn about this. I worry about breaking it and fire.

Well, it sounds like if your fence is hot it shouldn't be a big problem... as long as your fence is still in working condition. I probably shouldn't... but I keep mine out in the rain/snow... all the weather and it still works! Mine does make a ticking noise, but that doesn't mean that everybody's makes ticking nosies... like I said you'll be just fine as log as it's still working!:thumbsup
Good luck!

How many volts do you have?

Zareba and 6000 volts.

I played with it, lost all power, fixed it, but light still is not on. I tested it on 6 of the 7 dogs. All got zapped. I gave a very high prey, high energy greyhound/husky mix. I have rabbits in there. He tried running along the run chasing the rabbit and he got zapped good enough that he backed off which never happens. My youngest GSD tried the same thing and wouldn't walk back past it, he sat in the corner looking at me. I think they can smell it. They definitely tested the boundaries and all backed off. It didn't take much to go off and all sides worked.

I still don't feel comfortable with the light not working. It's there for a reason. I will call them tomorrow. I don't know what else it can be.

Maybe the light bulb is bad?
Also I was wondering what voltage you have to see what some people use. I have 13,000 running around my coops.

How the heck do you change the light bulb on these things? I hate taking stuff apart because it never goes back together right for me.

Is it a solar charger? Mine blinks and it is very faint. You cannot see it in direct sunlight. My husband didn't think ours was working at first either, but he was looking at it during the day. I stood there looking for about 30 seconds or longer before I saw it blink.
I can barely hear any ticking on mine either. In fact, I only hear it if grass is touching a wire.

No, mine is plug in. The light used to blink pretty bright, I could see it from a distance. Then yesterday it got fainter and fainter until it stopped. I have only had this thing for a week.
