Another Grogel Plus B Question

Please don't tell me to "do a search" because I already have. My eyes are crossed from reading. Lots of pros and cons concerning the product Grogel Plus B. but no-one addresses my specific question.

I'm waiting the arrival of my first shipment of day-old chicks, so I'm full of questions. I've already been told to go to the "Learning Center", which I have and haven't found an answer.

I bought the little bag. Heck, I only ordered 25 chicks, so this stuff will go a long way. I have a friend who told me to mix it up and actually put it on their feed. He said the minute I take them out of the box, I need to dip their little beaks in water and then the Grogel "tainted" feed and let them go.........one at a time. He said they'd be dehydrated from the travel without water and the Grogel was a super-rehydrater. The instructions say to give it to them in their shipping box.............I assume before the ceremonious dunking! Which is the correct way? (disregarding all the product pros and cons)

This is more an art than a science, so there's no "right" answer. Obviously, chicks have survived shipping through the mail without Grogel, so it's not indispensible.

If it was me, I'd get them out of the shipping box immediately and put them in their brooder where they'll have more room and can get warmed up. You're preheating your brooder, right? It should already be up to the correct temperature, and stabilized at that temperature, before your chicks are scheduled to arrive.

I'd offer the Grogel separately from their water and feed. Use your finger to "peck" at these various items to show the chicks what they are, as their hen would have done. The chicks will also teach each other.

The main thing is to watch your chicks so you can respond if any individuals are having problems. With so many chicks, you aren't going to be able to watch to see if each one is eating, drinking and pooping, so you'll have to be alert for listless behavior, where one or more chicks just isn't acting like the others.

More art than science, huh. Good..............I'm an artist, so this ought to be simple!

Oh, and yes, my brooder is all ready and warm for the arrival of the new babies. It's hovering between 90 and 95 right now and they are due on Wednesday.
