The mom belongs to my dad, she's not mean, just not friendly (more afraid of us then anything).
My cow is a beef mix, mostly simmental, some of her half sibs are major milk producers! And Panda does ok, she definately has plenty for her own calf, just not sure w/ her being beef and not dairy if she'd be able to handle two. I just got luckly last year that her calf was about weaning age when I got my other heifer. I do plan to get a nurse cow though, not in time for this girl, but hopefully by the time I have the next one!
And thank you everyone, I'm really happy to have her! She's doing pretty good, she's getting up and down on her own and moving around her pen. The only issue we are having right now is that she's walking/standing on top of her foot. Hopefully that will straighten out soon, the vet is supposed to check in w/ me tomarrow and I'll let her know so she can tell me if she wants me to do something different.
Cool nice looking Heifer. Wow I feel ashamed I've had a homestead for years, but I've not taken a lot of pictures I guess I just took it for granted, I'll have to get busy and post our homestead so people can view all the goats cattle horses pigs chickens. Here at the homestead it gets busy this time of year everything is giving birth. I'll share some more soon.Everyone is welcome to visit me at http://www.backtobasics-homestead.com
thank you for the pic's.
I take pics constantly, especially this time of year! But really all the time, I could really make people sick of pics if I wanted! Today I took a bunch of pics of my dad's new calves (and a few more of my own), I may share them to.
So jlapham get out there and get those pics! It doesn't matter how many I see in pics or real life, I still love looking!
