I have heard of hens crowing and have explored the threads about this, but never thought I would witness it.
This morning, 30 minutes before sunrise I thought I heard a dog barking. Rushed out to check on my 2 yo hens, and the #1 gal was in the run crowing. She flapped her wings and let go several loud crows. There was no dog or predator around or any evidence of a threat that I could find. Guess she was just the wake up for the other gals or maybe she did hear some danger and scared it off?
Even at 2 years old, the girls keep surprising me. Every day is a new adventure!
