I have 23 Easter Eggers that are 8 weeks old today. I am pretty sure of the sex of most of them (another batch that's heavy on the roosters), but I wanted to give everyone else the pleasure of guessing

I will post again in a few months with updated pictures of as many as I can. Apologies in advance for the bad camera work, most of them would not stand still! Looking forward to the speculations...

Pullets have colors that smoothly flow into each other. Cockerels have blotches of colors, particularly bold shinny colors. The Cockerels will also have slightly larger combs, and bodies.

Edited...because I didn't think to click on and enlarge the photos. Turns out there are a few more boys in there.

I'm thinking you have a pretty even split.

you call them easter eggers, what parentage do they have? Some look classic ee, some just look mixed.

Thank you for the guesses!! I know this was a fairly long list.

All of the birds are from Meyer hatchery, not created by me, so I have no idea on parentage and mixed status. To me, this looks like a fairly common batch of hatchery EEs--I usually get wild coloration from everyone, a few without beards or muffs, all different colors of feet, and at least one with a single comb instead of a pea.

Our guesses look very similar. Here are the ones I'm unsure on: 3, 12, 17.

3 and 17 are what I've been calling my "False Gold Laced" EE's. I was sure they were roosters until their development slowed down.

Here is 3 at almost 5 weeks:

I'm going to be very happy if both of them turn out to be pullets since it will split things more evenly male/female wise.

12 is my favorite, and though everything about the personality says pullet (shy but calms down once in my hands, inquisitive without wanting to get too close), that coloring says roo (that dark red on the shoulders). I'm going to keep him to at least 6 months and see how his personality changes, and if he works out he might not have to go in the pot

I promise I'll update with pictures with how they look as the grow.

I agree, 12 is very pretty and will probably make a beautiful roo! I'd love to see pics of him in four months or so.

The gold laced are cool! I've not seen that color from a hatchery, guess they're expanding their breeding stock.

My guess is: 1-2-3-6-12-13-17-18-20-22 are pullets. The rest are cockerals. I have wheaten colored EE's and none of the roosters have been wheaten colored. # 23 ( if it is a cockeral) will be a very pretty rooster.

I trust your guesses 100%!! I've seen your skills before, and if only 10/23 are cockerels that's going to be excellent
