Hubby and i just got back from moving Big Mama Hen into the big coop with the rest of the Wyandottes. They've been doing well outside so we decided it was time. Everyone was surprised but quieted when we turned the flashlight off. It's still scary to me!

So i went out extra early, popped the door and nobody came out! I went to the human door and peered in. Everyone was still on their roosts. I put down new food and two of the pullets dared to leave the roosts. The other three stayed up peering at big mama who was watching for movement. I finally scooted her to one side and two more took off. Then i convinced big mama it was time to go.. She did. So finally Delores braved the door to outside. I have four waterers and five food piles and at first it was touch and go with the battle betWeen bug mama and the littles but it was back to yesterday's harmony when i finally left.n it went okay.

Latest info. I'm glad everything has been so uneventful that there was nothing to write. All of the girls are now on the top roost! There's are cluster of five, a little space and then big mama hen. It is delightful!

Glad you are having success....curious about the earlier part of the story tho.

LOL. You seem to be the only one. :) Here’s the deal. I bought a two year old laying hen brlw in hopes of a few eggs before my pullets get old enough. I quarantined her in her own coop and run and then moved the whole coop and run next to my five pullets. After a week next to each other we let her into the run with the pullets and she did some stalking and pecking there and when free ranging. Eventually everyone settled down and that’s when we put her in the coop at night. They are all doing well, but no eggs from her. I keep worrying she’ll be egg bound and I won’t know it but so far so good. I’m feeding all flock and supplementing calcium with oyster shell. If she never lays I’m okay with it. I like her.
