High to everyone! My name is David and I've had chickens most of my life. It started when I was a teenager renting a farm house from a little old lady who lived alone and farmed the place by herself all of her life after her parents passed. The love of her life was her chickens. She was so crippled up with arthritis that she hadn't had chickens for years. So, I cleaned up her chicken house and went to a nearby egg farm and got her a bunch of chickens and I took care of them. It must have put twenty years back on to of her life to see and hear them and I have had chickens ever since.

I'm in my mid fifties now and have had lots of different kinds of chickens but now I am hooked on Marans. I have Black Coppers, Golden Cuckoo, Black Tailed Buffs and Wheaten's. My intent is to work with them and try to get them as near the French Standard as possible. I haven't ever tried breeding before so I have a lot to learn and will be asking a pile of questions. This looks like a pretty good place to get answers. I like what I have read so far. Everyone seems to be very helpful. Anyway, glad to be here and hope to learn a lot and hopefully make some new friends.

Have a great day!
