Hi, I have decided to build my own new coop and would like to know if building/placing one wall of your coop along an existing wall is a good or bad idea? I plan on building a 8x8 coop about 6' high with a long run. The wall is cement and 7ft. high. I'm considering it to create more shade since I live in Arizona. The problem I am worried about is that it won't receive any real sun in the winter. Should I just make it very airy and put it in an area that will get sun year round or keep it in the shade so the summers aren't so unbearable? I plan on having a very large run. Should the coops entrance and run face north /south? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I say, I say, watch out for the chicken hawks. Thank you and God Bless.
