1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes...we got our 3 chicks on Memorial Day

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3

(3) What breeds do you have?
We purchased what we think is:
1 Golden sex linked
1 amaracuana (which I’m thinking is actually an Easter Egger based on what I’ve been reading)
1 Plymouth barred rock

Hoping all three will be pullets/hens. We’re in a non rooster area :)

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Getting my own kids involved (7 and 4 years old)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My husband and I are full time teachers. In our off time we like wood working, diying, and playing with our kids

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
See above!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
In our search to plan and build our perfect coop!

YAY for you! You'll have so much fun! ...and, eventually, eggs too.

I started out with 3. That was my plan. A tiny flock that kept me and my husband in a few eggs. Now I've got 7 out in the coop and I just hatched 5 who are presently in a brooder box on my kitchen counter. I've got 3 more eggs in the incubator 'cause I'd like to be sure that I can add some green eggs to the brown, rose, and blue ones I'm getting now.

Oh! And I have 3 dozen eggs in the fridge waiting for someone to stop by and say they need some.

I hope you love it here and get all your questions answered!
