Another new member

I can sort of see why your husband wants the chickens to have heat. I'm a huge freeze baby and when I think of myself cold, I think, how can they not possibly freeze out there?? I live in Minnesota where the temp gets into subzeros with -25 or more windchill. I am also a city girl and enjoy being in my nice WARM house. On the other hand, people have been raising chickens in all kinds of climates for hundreds of years. They probably weren't heating their coops then, so why do they need to now?

Just tell him your going to bring them into the kitchen so they can be warm and see if he changes his mind.

It's been 8 degrees last few nites and my girls are fine. No insulation.
