We had bantams when I was a kid. My official "greeters" when I got off the school bus were a pair of roosters; Heckell and Jekyll would lie in wait then viciously attack me with their sharp little spurs as I ran to the house.
I don't know why my parents didn't stop the attacks. Of course, we lived in rural southern Iowa. Maybe it was the best entertainment they had before cable TV was available.
In any case, I am fine with all of my chickens. But sometimes, when Dottie wants treats and starts pecking at my ankles, I do have a few flashbacks.
