Hi all,

New chicken owner. Got 4 adult golden comets on July 4th. Recently bought a house with a few wooded acres that came with an established coop with an 18' x 23' run. The previous owners asked if we wanted their 10-12 chickens, but we declined... being first time homeowners and first time chicken parents felt like a little too much to tackle at once. :) I doubled the run a couple weeks ago to 18' x 40', installing a gate between the two halves for access control. (The old section is safeguarded from hawks - the new section isn't yet.)

Anyway... as a new owner, I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to this site. It's an amazing resource!

You will fit right in! You have already made a huge run for 4 hens....so you will need more chickens to fill it up! We are here to help you with that!
