On 4th of July weekend, my son won a chick at a rodeo event. Since we didn't want it to be lonely, we picked up two more from the feed store for company. I have no idea what breed Rodeo is and I'm not completely sure about Buttercup and Vanilla. I'm thinking Rodeo is a roo, the others are supposed to be pullets, but so were my friend's and she ended up with a roo in her bunch. They are about 10-12 weeks old right now.

Here is Rodeo when we got it.

And now.

Here are Buttercup and Vanilla now. Is the fact that one has white in its tail and one has black important?

All three together. Rodeo is clearly much smaller even though they were about the same size when we got them.

Thanks in advance for your help, I'm so glad I found this board with all you experts. I'm sure I'll have bunches of questions.

As far as your pictures...

I'm going to guess Rhode Island Red for Vanilla (the hen with the dark tail?).

Thanks for your quick response and warm welcome. I was pretty sure Rodeo was a roo the first moment I laid eyes on him even though I'm far from a chicken expert.

Any guesses as to his breed? I'm thinking some kind of bantam since he's so much smaller than the other two.

I'm just hoping that Vanilla and Buttercup are both hens. I don't know what I'll do if I have two roos and only one hen. Wait-yes I do. I'll order more hens so each has a harem.

I think that Buttercup (white in the tail?) is a gold sex-link and that Vanilla (black in the tail?) is a Rhode Island Red. Does Rodeo have a single comb..kinda hard to tell in the pic.

red and white is a sex-linked egg layer. the red is a rhode island red. the rodeo roo is either a cross or a toppie gamechicken. see that lil cluster of feathers behind his comb? if he had been a polish cross his comb would be a split straight rather than a normal straight.

Rodeo's stance is a little wide for a leghorn, IMO. See the distance b/w his legs? He's stocky, kinda like my dark cornish roos. I think he's some sort of game/game cross....but then I could be wrong. I'll see if I can find the breed pic that looks like him, I've seen it before but can't remember where....
