Another Newbie from Massachusetts

Well, it certainly puts a different spin than guinea fans have been doing. I do have an alpha male - called Tony Soprano for obvious reasons. He likes to play tough guy but is a big sissie when it comes right down to it. I'm building a separate coop for the silkies than where the guineas rooste - but they will share a pen. Maybe that will help with keeping everyone happy.

it might. What I am doing with my ducks and chickens is taking the coop and seperating in half and seperating the run. experiment and see what works and what wont.

Oh my gosh! I love your avatar.

And thank you to whomever moved my topic, I obviously did not know what I was doing when I originally posted it.

I had one guinea with my chickens years ago but had to give her back because of the noise. They all got along just fine. But that is only my experience. And they were all adults when introduced.

As a former guinea owner (who does miss them terribly), I can tell you, they can be merciless to chickens when they get into the "teen months". Silkie chicks will be bowled over by guinea keets, especially as they grow. I have standard chickens and I had to rehome my four guineas to keep my RIR hens from being killed, literally. So, please use caution. Guineas do not act like chickens, are much stronger and faster and pack up very differently than chickens.
Oh, and welcome to BYC!
