Hello All,
My name is Theresa and I'm brand new to the site and new to the world of chickens. We purchased our first chicks in April, they are now 9 weeks old. Been talking about getting them for years and finally decided to take the plunge this year. We were going to start with 3 or 4 chicks but ended up with six! LOL I ended up coming home initially with 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Barred Rocks and a week later 2 Americaunas. They have been so much fun to watch grow and change into their small adult selves. Neither my hubby or I have ever had chickens but now we have some acreage and it seemed like a fun addition to our family that includes a 1 year old yellow lab and 9 year old cat.
I have spent a bunch of time looking online to learn about my birds. Seems like every question I Googled always ended up referring me to BYC, so figured I may as well join the fun!
The girls have been spending oodles of time outside in a former kennel area we have but I have been bringing them into the garage to the brooder at night still because we have honestly not figured out how big or what style of coop to build. I need to pick some brains here for that answer!
Thanks in advance for all of your help! Looking forward to "meeting" everyone!
