Hi All!

This weekend we converted the kid's old playhouse into a chicken coop. It's fenced in and the kids now have three new friends: a silver laced wyandotte, a BSL and an isa brown (all hens.) We're "borrowing" them from a friend for the summer. The isa brown is a poult, while the other two were actively laying before they're trip to our house...

The kids are loving it and the neighbors have (so far) been supportive. I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself because I'm sure in the next few weeks I'm going to have tons of questions.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have some excellent layers, although don't be surprised if they take a few days off of laying after the shock of being moved to a new house. Black Sex Links are my favorites as they are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your borrowed summer flock.

Welcome to BYC! Have fun with the chickens, because there's no going back now!
