Another NJ based beginner with 17 chicks on the way (pics) with questions

Hi guys! I've been lurking the forum for awhile and we took the plunge and placed an order for some chicks. They will arrive mid September.

Let me tell you a little about us.
We live on a 3 acre property that we have a garden on.
It's in South New Jersey. Our summers can get pretty hot (mid 90s) and we can get snow in the winter.
I want to do a witchita cabin coop but larger (maybe chattaroy cabin) because I want to focus on ventilation from the heat. We will be getting our chicks in the fall so the cold may also be a problem. But I'm not planning on investing in heat lamps. I read on here that the chickens can protect themselves pretty well. Let me know if I'm making a mistake?

We have so many snakes around our property because we are about 15 feet from a forest. So enforcing protection with cinder blocks around the coop and run is a must. Also lots of hardware cloth. I read that Amazon may be the best place to get that but if you have any other suggestions let me know?

Please suggest to me any well ventilated but greatly protected coops for 20-25 chickens with a run?

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are very new to chickens. But we have wanted them for awhile. I work from home as a childrens book illustrator so I am able to tend a little more to them.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We just bought 17 chicks to arrive in the middle of Sept from mypetchicken.

(3) What breeds do you have?
5 Easter eggers, 2 snowy Easter eggers,3 Dominique,3 Rhode island red, 2 cream legbar, and 2 buff brahma bantam.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? We are basing our reasons around egg laying and to have as pets.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm an artist and I love to bake and cook, and garden. I like being able to use the food from the garden to feed us.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my fiance and our 2 cats that I rescued from a storm drain when they were kittens. I'll insert a pic.

We also have a puppy coming in March of next year, it's an Australian Shepherd. We're hoping it will fit in our beginners homestead.
