My hubby can get me lots of 3x3 sheets of cardboard at work and I wondered if I can keep a sheet of it under the roost for catching the majority of the poo in the coop

( do chickens poop in thier sleep? )

, and then dispose of it every other day or so??? There will be pine shavings too, and I can just fold it in half and carry out the cardboard sheet and slide the pooy shavings right into the compost pile....is that ok??
My girls are only 3 weeks old right now ...so this will be for later when they are in the coop full time and using the roost. Just wondered if this would work ok?? Thanks!!

That is a great idea, actually it sounds a lot like the droppings boards a lot of people use under their roosts, but using an actual board means a lot of scraping I like the cardboard, and yes I think it would be fine to compost.

Don't expect the cardboard to break down quickly at all, else it's a fine idea. And yes.. They poo 24/7.. The only reason it's under the roosts the most is because they only sit still while roosting.
