So I learned yesterday that Chicken Manure is yet another item I can sell at this years farmer's market! I'm so excited, because I certainly have LOTS of that.
Unfortunately, I'm in the list of the worlds' WORST composters.... and in 2 years have not managed YET to make compost
so my question is what is the other "best" way to use chicken manure or distribute it and have it READY for sale in LESS than 3 months.. or in 2 months preferrably. It must be said that my poop comes without any OTHER organic materials, we use sand bedding & poop shelves so it's pretty much 99.9% straight poop.
Chicken Poop tea DOES sound fast and easy... a shovel full per 5 gallons of water... brew for 1 week and then dilute to somewhere between 4 and 9 parts water to 1 part tea. I thought I could bottle it in old 2 liter bottles, but I have never used it.. so need to gain the experience of those of you who have in how to direct people (and myself) to use it best... how often, etc.
I was also considering dehydrating it in a solar dehydrator. Would that work? If we turn it into dry powder, is it safe THEN to use on the garden directly? Or does it still need composting or dilution?
The system would be easy... a long trough with layers of screen/welded wire progressively smaller & smaller with solar exposure. We pour fresh on the top screen in a nice single layer, as it dries we sorta tap the screen and it starts to fall down to the layers of smaller mesh, eventually you can scoop the bottom and it's some sort of dry powder (in theory)
OR
If there is a semi-easy or even EASY way I can compost this stuff IN A HURRY, since it's just poop, not woodchips or straw, even in smaller quantities.... please do let me know.
Thanks everyone... I really can use the help because I really need to try & make some cash at this year's market.
