another poop question

I'm about to start composting and was wondering if was ok to put in the chicken poop and pine shavings. Any other composters out there using the poop, or are there reasons not to?

I put my shavings and poop in my compost pile. The shavings take a while to compost but as long as you water it well and take a pitch fork to it, it should be fine. I noticed with my compost that it'll smoke a lot because chicken poop is very acidic. The poop has to compost a very long time before it can be used in a garden, if it's put in the garden to early it could burn up your plants.

I think I'll let my current pile compost alone and start a new one since it's finally composting well. I don't want to start the old pile from scratch once it's composted good.
