It has been SO so rainy here and we did not put new bedding down in our run. I’m so worried I hurt our chickens by letting the run get rainy the past few days. :( Everyone is acting normal so I dunno whose this is…

If it is coccidiosis, can I get a confirmation of treatment? ;( We’ve got 19 chickens in the run and coop, and want to be sure everyone is covered… I feel terrible that they may have it. I’ve been trying to keep everything tidy but the rain has been a true obstacle the past few weeks on and off. Argh.

Seconded. Those stools are very alarming and I would not mess around. 2 teaspoons per gallon for liquid Corid. Make that the only water source for EVERYONE. Fresh batch daily.
Thank you SO so much. I feel awful. I’m in there multiple times a day every day and this is the first I’ve noticed and it looked so bad it scared me to pieces. Is there anything else we can do to help support them during this, such as anything added to their diets or extra vitamins?

I'd recommend kitchen scraps because of the variety and lots of fresh water. Apple cider vinegar is great for gut health too.
Thank you SO much! We’ve gotten the Corid started. 🤞 I checked everyone over and no pale combs, no lethargic behavior, no anything out of the ordinary. Which worries me a little more that someone is doing a really good job of hiding it. 😮‍💨 Hopefully will have a good update in a week. We’re going to do a HUGE deep clean and lay down something good in the run to help keep dampness at bay. We mega-cleaned the waterers and feeders and next will tackle the coop. 🤞

I've seen some people have success with pelletized bedding. I'm pretty sure it's compressed sawdust pellets, so there's also the risk your chickens might sample some, but it absorbs a ton of water and turns to sawdust. Might be worth experimenting with!

Will absolutely give this a try! Honestly anything that’s easy to help keep things clean and dry, we’d be happy with even if it’s more upkeep for us. I really appreciate the recommendation!

I've put chick outdoors in a pen where other older chickens were to get them acclimated to the outdoors. I never even thought of it that I could have tried giving them medicated for a couple of weeks, which might have prevented it, but never did I see a sign either. They were never sick a bit, but when I saw the blood in the brooder, we ran for the Corid. All were fine after that. Yours should be too!

Thank you so much. I was so upset. We’ve lost very few chicks among our… well, many, but each time I worry if one isn’t perfectly well I’ve royally dropped the ball. I love them all so much! 🤞 Since it’s so hot out lately, we’ve got them several water sources (and tons of shade!) and each water source has the corid in there. Fingers crossed!
