another Q about sand-bathing

the big hardware store has play sand that comes in really cool colors. can i use that stuff in a dishpan/litter pan? i havent yet because i was worried about the coloring.. but if its just sand... it seems like it would be a fun thing to do. i only have 3 girls in a coop out in the back yard

Might sound like fun to look at but the chickens do ingest it as grit. You are on your own there!
