Another question about duck eggs

Ok, well now you've got me scared!!

When should I help them? They didn't have the yellow yesterday, and they are definitely moving around. I don't want to help them if I can help it, but I also don't want to loose them! My little one is so looking forward to having baby ducks, it would just break his heart if they didn't make it!

BTW, the humidity during incubation has been at the very least 65%, usually 70%. I have been misting them daily with room temp water, and they now have humidity at 79%? I think

I can't get it to go and stay higher than that. I have read that some people set them on a wet washcloth, do you think that would help?

I'm not sure. I would rather stick to just spraying them with mist. It's the safest!

Where's Miss prissy when you need her??

I don't know if I should help these eggs or just leave them. They are on day 26 now, two of them are evidently rocking, I haven't seen them, but they are not laying in the bator the same way I put them in there!

The two have definitely broke through the membrane. None have pipped the shell as of yet. The 3rd egg I could see the duckling pushing against the membrane, but it doesn't look like it had pipped yet. The one that peeped at me when I was movng them to the hatcher last night was just sitting in the egg peeping like mad. I could hear 'clicking' in the other egg, so I assume that is the duckling breathing. I misted the eggs and put the top back on.

Should I help them? I don't want to lose them!

If it is day 25 don't touch those ducks. They aren't ready to be hatched. Day 28 at the earliest but some ducks can take as long as day 32 to come out of those shells.

Just because they pipped the inner membrane doesn't mean they are anywhere near ready to break the shell.

The constantly handling, candling, checking, changing the incubator will cause them to die in the shells.

My best advise it to close the bator, keep the temps stable, keep the humidity at around 85% and keep your hands in your pockets.

So do I not need to mist them anymore? I've been doing it since say 4, since I had the goose eggs in there with them. The goose eggs didn't develop much, if at all, but I figured since I had been misting the duck eggs, I would just keep doing it.

Yayy! Hands in your pockets! They can go 48 hours as a pips before they try to hatch.
