I was planning to go with Cornish Males, but these chicks will be outlaws...we don't have the acreage to raise chickens says the city. So am I asking to get caught with males? How early do they crow? I'm wanting about 15 I think....Maybe I should go all female or straight run so they would be quieter?

At the end of your 8 weeks you may have a few just starting to crow. You may want to go with females if it will be an issue. But it will not sound like a crow more like someone strangling a chicken. Usually it is like after 10 weeks that they start crowing where it may get annoying. Will

Thanks! I imagine that any time they start to "crow" too much, the dogs will bark anyway, so that should cover it up anyway...mostly roo's it is

when my mom heard them "crow" she asked me if the noise was some kind of weird wild bird. And my mom is fairly knowledgable about chickens. It sounds more like a dogs squeaky toy to me.
