So I got a Pekin from someone to add to my flock. I had originally gotten two but one died. She limps and is being treated with electrolytes, niacin and nutri drench. I’ve tried to integrate her into my flock of 8. She happily hobbles over to them and my male Pekins (2 of them) go over to her and she gets into mating position, then they just pull feathers out of her around her neck, and base of the neck. Then don’t mate with her. Then she goes off alone. What is going on? I can’t seem to figure out how to post a video to show you. Any thought?

Having her with drakes will only make her limping worse, and it will most likely never heal that way. Do you know why she is limping? Does she have bumblefoot?

Doesn’t appear to have Bumblefoot. Her foot is turned in some and the boy I got her from said she always had a limp. I believe he was feeding her chicken feed and she didn’t get enough niacin.

This is the second week I’ve separated her I am still giving her niacin. I just went out and separated males from females. I know she won’t be like the other ducks, I just hope they accept her.

No fighting when introducing them. A lot of flirting and trying to mate at first but then the picking on her. So I was keeping her separate from all of them, but they could see each other. I had her with all the females in the house and run but every time she would go into the house the other females would run out. If she came out, the others ran inside. That’s when I put all of them together.
I have separated her from the males, just as suggested and I see her outside now closer to the other girls and she is preening and acting the most normal I’ve seen her act since I got her. So maybe I’m just impatient on them accepting her into the flock.

It may take a bit for them to fully accept her. It sounds like its going good so far. Good luck.
