Before when I could see my duckling move in its shell ( candling) I would talk and it would squirm even more I think it knows my voice but this week the exact day it's due to hatch I have to go on a trip

and my mother who knows how to take care of him is caring for her for a few days. No big deal but just curious if I come back and talk to him will it respond and remember me? Or will it just be a bit shy

I think it's very likely to imprint on your mom since she will be the first thing it sees when it hatches. Are any others due to hatch with it?
