Why does my Delaware roo have a red tinge on his legs and toes? Please don't tell me that this is connceted to my mite problem!

I've read here that red on the legs can be hormones.

Some breeds of roosters at peak maturity and hormonal levels can develop red in their legs. I seriously doubt that this is a result of mite problems unless you have been dealing with scaley leg mites and the legs are physically damaged by the infestation.
