another sex link question.

I have some sex links that have a rust color feathers coming down from their head to their back. I have some others that are about 3-4 weeks old that are starting to barre like their barred rock momma's, is this normal? All the black sex links that I have seen are almost pure black.

Brown on the pullets' chest and hackle area is normal. Barring is not. Barring indicates that they are male black sexlinks. As chicks, the males have a spot on their head and the females do not. That's how they sex them at hatch. The males get barring from mama and the females are black, usually with gold/brown in the chest and hackles.
